Freezer beef is sold by the quarter, half, or whole. If you buy a quarter of beef, you get approximately 115 pounds of beef for your freezer, cut and wrapped to your specifications. This will include a mix of roasts, steaks, and hamburger. Typically, the breakdown is 50% hamburger, 30% roasts, and 20% steaks. Our hamburger is about 90% lean.
You can also purchase beef by the cut. For example, you can get a few steaks for a special dinner or create a family pack to stock your freezer.
We will work with you to select cuts and packaging options. Free local delivery available for orders over $150.
Our herd consists of crossbred cattle, with predominantly Angus, Devon, and Charolais genetics. All the animals we sell are born and raised on our farm.
We sell steers and heifers to farmers, 4-H students, and others. We also sell fully-finished animals. Prices vary and are connected to market value. Please call for pricing and to arrange a time to visit and select your animals.
An animal's diet will affect its growth rate and the taste and quality of its meat. An animal that has a grass and grass-hay only diet is "grass fed," and its meat is usually quite lean.
Animals that eat grain tend to have more marbled, tender meat.
Our cattle have a diet that consists of predominantly grass and hay; they spend most of the year grazing in the pastures, and they get hay in the winter, when the grass dies back. They also get a small ration of grain to increase marbling, which leads to flavorful, juicy beef.
Our cattle do not receive growth hormones. We use antibiotics only when it is necessary for the health of a sick animal. We believe in keeping the diet and treatment of our cattle as natural as possible, but in the rare situation when an animal is sick, we also want it to be treated so it can recover.
If an animal requires antibiotics, we exceed the recommended wait-time for product withdraw before selling the animal. We can explain each animal's medical history upon request.
